Station Earth Wins Three Major CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® Awards for a Massive Installation Featuring the ELAN g! Entertainment and Control System

At CEDIA Expo 2014, Station Earth, a leading ELAN dealer for 13 years, took home three major industry awards for a single installation that features ELAN g! as the brain of a home control and entertainment system valued at more than one million dollars. The integration firm won the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® gold award in “Best Hidden Installation” and the silver award in “Best Integrated System $450,001 and over”, while also claiming the title of Electronic House magazine’s “Best Hidden Install of the Year.”

“We’re thrilled to have won these three top honors at CEDIA Expo, and this multi-award-winning system serves to show that ELAN can truly stand up to any home automation system on the market today,” said John Stumpf, sales manager at Station Earth. “We’re loyal to ELAN because they make the best product at a price that allows us to reach a broad client base while also delivering top-of-the-line installations and service for even the largest jobs.”

The installation at this 18,000-square-foot home encompassed everything from multi-room audio and video to gate control and generator monitoring. The home features 231 lighting, fan and motor loads, 51 motorized window treatments, 24 HD security cameras, a security system with 50 zones, 23 zones of HVAC, humidity and temperature monitoring, control of eight garage doors and a driveway gate, 23 zones of video, 25 zones of audio and a full anamorphic home theater, all controlled with ELAN.

“We used a combination of in-wall touch-panels, tabletop touch-panels, HR2 remotes and the ELAN g! mobile app to give our clients the easiest, most accessible home control no matter where they are in the house,” Stumpf said. “In fact, there are 23 HR2 remotes, one with almost every TV, because we believe it’s the only way to deliver a true TV viewing experience with dedicated hard buttons that mobile devices lack. Every aspect of this installation, from the interfaces used to the specialized design employed to hide as much of the electronics as possible, works together to create the ultimate smart-home experience.”

To win the two awards for “Best Hidden Installation,” Station Earth designed several key hidden components, starting with a TV that swivels down out of a wall, where it is stored sideways to conserve space. In the anamorphic theater room a hidden button within the front millwork opens a concealed door to reveal the true show stopper - three full size equipment racks levitating off the floor, held on a custom made cradle that motorizes back and forth in its room when servicing or upgrading is required.  The cradle glides on steel I-beams, held in place and riding on the same wheels that are used on roller coaster tracks. The overhead I-beams are welded to structural steel bolted into the home’s foundation and adjacent walls.  All the wiring for the home’s automation system and theater room is cascaded into the hanging rack assembly on industrial cable management cat tracks to prevent binding or pinching when the rack assembly is moved back and forth.

The home’s massive audio system comprises nearly 160 speakers and 30 subwoofers, including 90 outdoor speakers and 19 outdoor subwoofers. Paired with the home’s 27 TVs, the owners never have to go far to catch up on their favorite shows or listen to their favorite music.

The CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Designer Awards are considered the most prestigious awards program for the $10 billion residential electronic systems industry. Work submitted for the Electronic Lifestyles Designer Awards is completed in consumer homes around the world in categories including home theaters, integrated homes, media rooms, hidden installations and more. Submissions range from $40,000 single-room projects to whole-house integration systems that carry price tags topping $3 million.

The winning project submitted by Station Earth is published in the Electronic Lifestyles Designer Awards Book with color images and essay explanations of the project’s challenges and full list of products used. Station Earth will also be featured in an upcoming issue of CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles® magazine.

Core Brands Takes the Cake at CEDIA 2014 With Ten Awards For New Product Innovation

Leading home entertainment and control technology solutions provider Core Brands, a Nortek company, may have served a lot of cake at CEDIA 2014 with the appearance of Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, but it went home with something much sweeter — a record-setting ten awards from Residential SystemsTechnology Integrator, and CE Pro for new product innovation!  The ten awards were the most awarded to a single manufacturer at CEDIA 2014.

Core Brands was awarded two Residential Systems Best of Show Awards for the ELAN UltraMatrix series of HDMI-Audio Switchers and the Niles Auriel MRC-6430 Multi-Room Audio System. CE Pro awarded two CE Pro BEST Awards for the SpeakerCraft AIM “Series 2” speaker family and ELAN g1 Entertainment and Control System. Technology Integrator gave six EXC!TE Awards to the SpeakerCraft AIM Series 2, the ELAN g1 Controller, the ELAN UltraMatrix, the Niles Auriel MRC-6430 Multi-Room Controller, the Panamax Power360 Surge Protectors with USB Charging, and the Panamax SM3-PRO System Manager.

“Innovation spoke for itself at CEDIA 2014,” said Joe Roberts, Core Brands Vice President of Products and Marketing, “and we’re honored to receive awards from Residential SystemsCE Pro and Technology Integrator in all our categories—Control, Audio and Power. However, we’re even more honored by the excitement these new products generated among dealers.  Our focus is to delight dealers with innovative products that exceed their expectations. We think we did that at CEDIA 2014, and our dealers’ customers are going to enjoy the benefits of each of these best-of-class brands.”

The Residential Systems Best of Show Awards recognizes outstanding products exhibited at the CEDIA EXPO. Winners are selected by panels of professional users and editors initially based on product descriptions but ultimately by judges’ inspections at the convention.

The 6th Annual CE Pro BEST Awards recognizes the most noteworthy new product and technologies of 2014. A panel of custom integrators and CE Pro editors chose the winners of this year’s BEST Awards with their main goal to recognize products that make a substantial impact on integrators. Judging criteria not only analyzed the technical merits of the products, but also the ability of the device to help integrators open up avenues to a potential new customer base, enable integrators to design and install systems faster and thus more profitably, or help integrators gain a profitable margin on the equipment itself.

Technology Integrator’s 12th annual EXC!TE Awards were given to products that stand out for being innovative, high-performing and solutions-oriented for the custom installation professional. Technology Integrator looks for products that assist custom installers with the unique challenges they face every day on the job. The products are judged on how they increase installers' productivity, the dealers' profitability, the clients' satisfaction and the industry's vitality.

Stampede Shows Custom Installation Integrators How to Stay Ahead of the Herd at CEDIA 2014

Industry-leading distributor of ProAV solutions showcases innovative high value added systems for digital signage, unified communications, AV/IT, and presentations that take dealers out of the trap of commodity pricing.

Challenging custom installation dealers and integrators to see that ‘the profits are always to be found in the details,’ Stampede Presentation Products, Inc. is using its CEDIA 2014 exhibit to showcase a number of specific system solutions that add value and profit for custom installation dealers looking to beat the trap of commodity pricing when designing systems for their ProAV customers.

“Stampede always rides ahead of the herd when it comes to pointing the way to the future for our CI dealers just as we do for our ProAV dealers,” Stampede President & COO Kevin Kelly said today.  “Our corporate vision is to be the best at creating value for our partners and just one more way we are providing our customers with integrated system solutions that add value to their end-users and profits to their business.  We believe this is the new model for our industry — an industry that is being reinvented by the commercial reality of the Internet of Things.  And this couldn’t come at a better time for an industry looking for a path forward out of the woods of commodity pricing.”

According to Kelly, Stampede’s CEDIA 2014 exhibit program will reinforce this commitment by showcasing real world solutions in channels like corporate, healthcare, education, house of worship, and digital signage.  “In each instance we will show customers how to stay ahead of the herd in their local markets by adding profitable connectivity tools, software, accessories, and new devices that didn’t exist five years ago.  These are the areas that add profit to the system configuration and sale.”

The message is taking hold throughout Stampede’s organization, Kelly stressed, and it’s bringing a number of manufacturers into the Stampede portfolio. At the show Stampede will be exhibiting products from DJI, EPSON, Walkera, HP, LG Electronics, Lumens, Mustang, Neurona, Samsung, Sharp, SONY, Vaddio, VDO360, Vision, Xpand, and Wyrestorm.

“If there is one message we want our manufacturers and dealers to take away from CEDIA 2014 it is that Stampede is always ahead of the herd when it comes to providing intelligently designed, profitable solutions that work for our manufacturers, our dealers, and, most importantly of all, the end user customers we all ultimately are in business to serve.”

Stampede Celebrates Year of Record-Breaking Growth at CEDIA 2014

Paced by the addition of a number of new manufacturers to its vendor portfolio, along with a substantial growth in the number of dealers in its network, Stampede Presentation Products, Inc. is celebrating a record-setting year of growth at CEDIA 2014 in Denver, Colorado.

The new manufacturers who have appointed Stampede to serve as a distribution partner include Canon Security, Circle Technologies, UC Clearone, Furman, BlueBOLT, DJI Drones, Walkera, EPSON, HP Tablets, LG Electronics Consumer, Lumens, Marshall Electronics, Mustang, Neurona/Greenpeak, Samsung Consumer, Samsung Hospitality, Sharp Consumer, SONY EVI, Vaddio, VDO360, Vision, and Wyrestorm among many others. According to Kelly, these manufacturers are electing to work with Stampede because of the depth of its market knowledge and the strength of its dealer network, which has grown to more than 11,500 dealers this past year.

A rapidly changing industry is also playing to Stampede’s strengths, according to Kelly.  “The Age of Interactivity is now giving way to a new Age of Hyperactivity characterized by an always-fast, always-on Internet and, as a result, a new era of unprecedented opportunity is now unfolding — creating sales opportunities for dealers that were unimaginable a few short years ago.

“At a time when the traditional AV industry is maturing, a new personalized industry is rising up to take its place, one that is built upon the ideas of connecting, integrating, and sharing devices in entirely new eco-systems built around highly customized software applications,” Kelly explained.  “This shift is challenging our industry to stop using the terms ‘audio and video’ and start using the terms ‘see, hear and control’ in order to understand the business opportunities that this shift is creating.”

Stampede has taken a number of strategic steps to empower its 11,500 dealers to take advantage of this seismic shift by consumers and professionals to connect, integrate and share devices at work, school, government and home.  “Since last year’s CEDIA Show we added 20 new product lines and several new core platforms that traditional AV products can attach to,” Kelly said.

Even more encouraging for dealers and integrators, Stampede’s sales are growing in all three of its primary product categories — displays, projectors, and unified communications, which is by far the fastest growing segment of the company’s business.

Kelly reaffirmed Stampede’s commitment to constantly add value to every system installation it is involved with.  “Value adds margin for our dealers,” Kelly told Vendor Summit attendees.  “And, thus far in 2014, Stampede is adding value at an unprecedented level that cannot be matched by any other distributor in the business today.  We can add this value on a consistent basis because we are focused exclusively on meeting the needs of the ProAV dealer community.  We are not distracted by other industries and market segments.  We devote 100 percent of our time and considerable resources to helping dealers grow their business.”

Meeting the demands of growth, however, requires an expanding commitment to maintain face-to-face training, online learning, and readily available credit facilities to qualified dealers, “all of which Stampede is committed to providing,” Kelly added.  “Last year we increased our available monthly credit line by 28 percent, enabling us to serve as a bank to our dealer partners.  This year we are opening a new southwest regional office and adding to our field sales team network to increase the number of contacts we can have with dealers and their customers. ”
