Advanced Redefines 'Presentation' With Dual Videowall Installation At The Ontario College of Nurses
/The Ontario College of Nurses, the Canadian governing body for registered nurses and nurse practitioners, wanted to incorporate the ideal presentation system in their divisible conference room. To do so, they turned to Advanced, Canada’s leading AV integrator, to envision and install two 2 x 2 60” APG ultra-thin bezel videowalls, two motorized Sharp 80” TV/Monitors, and a two-part 10.1” Crestron touch panel control system.
“Advanced is honored to have been selected for this unique project,” Advanced Co-President David Weatherhead said today. “The Ontario College of Nurses is reinventing how their presentations are delivered. Integrated technology is necessary to effectively control and deliver their content.”
The Ontario College of Nurses’ conference room is far from ordinary, as the large space is divisible with a retractable air wall at the center. When the College prefers to use two small rooms instead of one large room, the air wall divides the space in half. When fully closed, each side acts as an independent entity that operates as a standalone room. When divided, each room houses one 2 x 2 60” APG ultra-thin bezel Plasma videowall, one 80” Sharp TV/Monitor, and one 10” Crestron touch-panel control system.
To select the ideal videowall for presentations, a College representative visited Advanced’s showroom. They streamed their own content on multiple displays to assess the benefits of each, eventually selecting two 60” APG Plasma ultra-thin bezel videowalls to recess into the far wall of the conference room.
“The 2 x 2 60” APG Plasma ultra-thin bezel videowall is the optimal display option for this space,” Advanced Vice President Mark McPherson said today. “Since its primary function is to present, we knew the videowall had to have a small seam gap to prevent from distracting the eye. Plus, each videowall has a 120” image diagonal, so that all participants can easily read the content, whether delivered on Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Excel.”
Additionally, Advanced installed two Sharp 80” TV/Monitors back to back against the air wall. Each retracts from the ceiling on motorized lifts when the air wall is present. “When the wall divides the two rooms, the College has two displays in each – a larger videowall for content, and an extra display if they’d like to show a separate visual,” McPherson added.
To control the content on all four displays, Advanced installed a Crestron Integrated Control System comprised of two 10.1” touch panels. When the air wall comes down, the touch panel controls the two closest displays; when the air wall is up, one touch panel controls the content across all four displays simultaneously.
"Advanced took a highly integrated system and made it easy to use," said David Proctor of the College of Nurses of Ontario. "We're able to easily transform one room into two, and the technology seamlessly follows. We're very happy with the final product."
The Ontario College of Nurses is the governing body for registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) in Ontario, Canada. The nursing profession has been self-regulating in Ontario since 1963. Self-regulation is a privilege granted to those professions that have shown they can put the interests of the public ahead of their own professional interests. It recognizes that Ontario’s nurses have the knowledge and expertise to regulate themselves as individual practitioners and to regulate their profession through the College.
